Adult Competitive Programs

Adult players have a number of options if they wish to play more competitive tennis. These include:

  • Interclub (Men’s, Women’s  and Mixed Doubles)
  • Club House League (Men’s, Women’s  and Mixed Doubles - Thursday evenings)
  • Club Ladders (scheduled by participants)
  • Club Winner Up Singles (Every second Tuesday, based on interest)
  • Club Tournament (August 23-26)

Members may sign up for any of these programs when they register their 2013 membership. Interclub play will start May 21. Club house league play will start May 16.

Interclub tennis is competitive doubles play, with weekly matches. Interclub tennis has been established in the greater Edmonton area for well over 30 years.

In 2013, subject to participation from other clubs, there will be up to four Interclub Leagues:

1. Mens' League

  • Played at NTRP levels 3.0-3.5, 4.0-4.5 and 5.0+.
  • Matches are played Wednesday evenings, 7 PM to 9 PM.

2. Ladies Evening League

  • Played at NTRP levels 2.5-3.0, 3.5-4.0, 4.5+.
  • Matches are played Tuesday evenings, 7 PM to 9 PM

3. Mixed Doubles League

  • Played at NTRP levels 2.5-3.0, 3.5-4.0, 4.5+.
  • Matches are played Sunday evenings, 6:30 PM to 9 PM

 4. Ladies' Morning League

  • Minimum NTRP level 3.5
  • Matches are played Wednesday mornings, 10 AM to Noon.

Clubs each host half of their matches. Host team is responsible to ensure that the courts are available and playable, and to provide snacks and drinks for social mixing after the match. Visiting teams provide two new cans of balls for each match.

Capilano House League will be played every Thursday evening starting May 16, weather permitting. It is open to all club members, regardless of age or ability. It will be set up as team play (primarily doubles). Team assignment will attempt to match teams as closely as possible. House League is organized and run by our club pro, Ryan Townsend

Club Ladders may be set up following registration. Based on interest, there may be both Singles and Doubles Ladder play. Players will be expected to choose who to challenge above them on the ladder, and will schedule matches as mutually agreeable.

The annual Club Tournament is the wrap-up event for each season. There are Ladies' and Men's singles and doubles events, as well as Mixed doubles. If enough players enter, the draw is split so that better players (i.e. better than 3.5 on the NTRP rating scale) play in one division, and players who play at 3.5 or below compete in another.
