East Coast Open: June 29th - July 1st
One of our feature events of the summer, the East Coast Open takes place at 3 venues; the Moncton Tennis Club, the Dieppe Tennis Club, and the Riverview Tennis Club. It includes events for juniors, open players and masters and includes some social events as well. Registration can be done online. Contact is Mark Thibault at the Tennis NB office.

Summer Tennis Camps: July 3rd - August 31st
This summer, the Capital Region Tennis Association is organizing weekly half-day tennis camps in Fredericton for kids aged from 5 to 11 at Kimble Park and for teenagers aged from 12 to 16 at Wilmot Park.

The camps offer teaching programs for beginners and for more experienced players. The teaching curriculum includes progressive tennis equipment, age appropriate racquets, balls and nets, all supplied as part of the weekly camp fee of from $100 to $125.

Campers learn from certified and trained Tennis Canada instructors led by David Phillips, the director of operations for the Abony Community Tennis Centre. To see more information, visit the Summer Camp info under Programs on the menu - you can also register there under Summer Camp Registration.

Every season, the Capital Region Tennis Association (CRTA) hosts several local tournaments that focus on participation and getting as many members of the tennis community out to the courts for some good matches and good fun!

Breakfast at Wimbledon: Sunday, July 8th: 10:00am - 3:00pm
On Sunday, July 8th, 2012, at 10:00 am, please join us for a lovely morning of strawberries and cream, and great tennis!

One of our members, Alan Thompson, has graciously offered his house to host a garden gathering and to watch the Men's Wimbledon Final. For the small price of $5, you will be treated a strawberries and cream, be able to enjoy some progressive tennis in the garden, and also be treated to one of the most anticipated tennis events of the season! The event will be BYOB.

Adult Tennis Social: Wednesday, July 11th: 8:30 - 10:30pm
Come out and join your fellow CRTA Members for a 'Summertime Social' On Wednesday, July 11th.

Join your fellow Adult Drop-in players for a cold drink on the patio of the Wilser's Room (weather permitting). There will be $3.50 Coors Light and Canadian Draft as well as $3.50 rum, rye, gin, and vodka!

We are going to try and make this a bi-weekly event so come on out, enjoy a drink, and get to know your fellow tennis players!"

Pro Clinic: Sunday, August 19th: 9:00 - 11:00am
On Sunday a 2-hour Wood Motors Ford Adult Tennis Camp lead by Steve Getchell from Saddlebrook Resort and Tennis Academy will be held from 9am to 11am.

Steve will also host a Youth Camp for kids 11 to 16 years (recreational) from 2pm until 4pm Sunday.

Indoor Tennis Focus Groups!: Wednesday, August 22nd: 6:00 - 8:00pm
As we draw closer to the grand opening of our six-court indoor community tennis facility, we have begun to consider the types of programming we will offer to our members. Please join us for round table discussions on Wednesday, August 22. David Phillips, our Director of Operations, will be on site at Wilmot Park Tennis Courts from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. for general conversation / feedback -- to discuss such topics as: *types of programming (drop-in, weekly, sign-up, etc), hours of operation, fees, flexibility, etc.

David Phillips will lead the discussions and is excited to meet you and gather your ideas in helping us to build the types of programming and atmosphere that we will all enjoy this Fall and Winter season.

Fredericton Open: August 24 - 26th
The Fredericton Open tennis tournament is next up on the summer schedule taking place at the Wilmot Park Tennis Courts this coming Saturday and Sunday, August 25th & 26th.

Play will take place in the following divisions: Men’s Open Singles, Men’s 4.0 Singles, Ladies Open Singles, Men’s & Ladies Open Doubles, and Mixed Open Doubles. The entry fee for the tournament is $25/one event and $35/two events. The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm. Registration can be done online for members through the Tennis NB website www.tennisnb.net or by contacting the Tennis NB office at tnb@tennisnb.net.

Please note that draw size in the men’s singles events may require a few matches to be played Friday evening.

CRTA'S FALL FLING - MIXED DOUBLES TENNIS TOURNAMENT

As the Abony Family Tennis Center continues to take shape for a fall opening, the Capital Region Tennis Association invites you to celebrate a fantastic summer of tennis with fellow tennis enthusiasts at our annual Fall Fling. The focus of this one day tournament is on good tennis matches and even better tennis fun. Our aim is to see as many tennis enthusiasts involved in this tournament as possible! Players of all abilities are welcome.

FALL FLING FORMAT
Mixed doubles: Please find your own partner. If there are more men than women who want to play there may be several male teams. If you are really stuck for a partner, let us know and we'll try to find one for you!

Matches: Best 2 out of 3 sets with a 3rd set 10-point tiebreaker. There is no ad serving and the receiving team chooses who receives the serve.

COST: $15/person
- Guaranteed 2 matches
- Snacks and lunch provided
- Prizes to winners and runners up in the main draw and consolation draw. Addiitonal random prizes will be drawn as well.

Don't forget your water and sunscreen!

If you would like to donate a food item to the tournament, please let us know. Bananas, granola bars, muffins, watermelon, cherries, pretzels are all popular choices!

NB Masters Championships: September 15th (All Day)
This year's NB Masters Championships will take place at the Wilmot Park Tennis Courts in Fredericton.

This event is open to anyone who meets the age requirements and it is not restricted to New Brunswick players only.

Divisions offered include 30+ to 65+ in men's singles, ladies singles, men's & ladies doubles, and mixed doubles.

Registration fee is $25/one event and $35/two events. The deadline to register is Wednesday, September 12th at 6:00 pm.

Tennis Center Open House: Saturday, September 29th: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Due to further construction delays, the informal “Open House” of our new indoor tennis center scheduled for Saturday Sept. 29th has regrettably been cancelled. However, we do invite everyone to come out to our Information Booth at the Grant-Harvey Sports Complex during its Grand Opening on Saturday. We will be there from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. handing out brochures about the center and fielding questions.

Also, weather permitting, Center Director David Phillips and his Tennis Ambassadors will be conducting demonstrations of progressive tennis--Try-Learn-Play--opportunities for kids and their families in the parking lot of the Abony Family Tennis Center. If weather is inclement, demonstrations may be moved into the Grant Harvey Complex. Please consult our information booth. Please join us!

Shams Cup: October 5 - 6th
The 4th annual Shams Cup doubles tennis tournament is just around the corner. This is an open event sponsored by the Saint John District Tennis Assoc. We started this event in order to celebrate the game of doubles tennis and to have fun while doing it! This year we hope to once again welcome visitors from around the province!

The format will be round robin followed by semi and final action. This allows for a minimum of 3-4 matches per
team so lots of tennis to play.

Who will be engraved on the Shams Cup in 2012? Grab a partner and GO FOR IT!

Water and lunch will be provided. There will also be random draws for prizes.

Divisions:
Men’s Doubles/Ladies Doubles/Mixed Doubles

How much?
$20 per person. ($30 total if playing 2 events)

When is it?
Friday October 5th- Mixed Doubles Only. Start time is 7PM (Will continue Saturday)
Saturday October 6th – Men’s Doubles and Ladies Doubles. Start time is 10AM.

Note: All draws will be finished on Saturday.

Deadline to sign up is October 3rd 2012.
