Community Team Tennis
The Concept
Community Team Tennis (CTT) is an exciting new tennis program that provides the opportunity for new participants to combine the learning of skills with the enjoyment of playing very quickly. This new game-based approach that includes both skill development and multiple match play is stimulating, exciting, and fun for young participants.
CTT provides the pathway for juniors to learn and play tennis as they do in other major team competitor sports, such as soccer and hockey, which have the ability to move children quickly into game scenarios. CTT operates much like a recreational house league where beginning players can play in a friendly, learner based team environment.
CTT Program Overview
CTT uses progressive tennis principles by adjusting equipment, court size and playing format to match the playing level and size of the participants, thereby allowing a much faster progression to truly play and enjoy the game.
The HCTA CTT format is broken into 3 different age programs, Tykes (5-8 yrs), Peewee (8-12 yrs), and Bantam (13-17 yrs). Each CTT program is composed of 4 teams with a roster of 4 to 8 players. Each team is coached by one of our tennis pros along with a volunteer parent assistant coach. The CTT program schedule runs for 1.5 hours each week for 9 consecutive weeks scheduled as follows: 3 weeks of practice, exhibition match, 3 weeks of round robin matches, playoffs, and finals.
