Coaches in Newfoundland and Labrador should be familiar with the following:
The Tennis Professionals Association (TPA)
All coaches in Newfoundland and Labrador should be certified intructors, Club Pro 1s or higher. They should also be members of the TPA for up to date coaching methods and many other benefits of the TPA. Progressive Tennis:
All coaches should know the age appropriate courts, rackets and balls associated with progressive tennis.
Long Term Athlete Development Pathway (LTAD)
All coaches should be familiar with the LTAD specific for tennis for guidance on player development and age appropriate activities. This is also a useful tool for parents of kids who love tennis.
Tournament Calander:
All coaches should be familiar with the Newfoundland Adult Open Circuit, Junior Open Circuit, Rogers’ Rookie Tour and ATA Circuit events.
Rogers’ Rankings:
all coaches should be familiar with the Rogers’ Ranking system across the province and how the head to head ranking system works.
Other:
Coaches should always make an effort to stay educated and connected to help their players improve.
