Clinician: Bill Popadych
Course Information
Courses will focus primarily on the skills needed to act as a roving official. They will include classroom sessions, video analysis and on-court training. There will also be an introduction to acting as a chair umpire.
Certification
Upon completion of the course, officials will receive certification that will be recognized country wide under the new National Certification Program (below). New officials will receive their Local Level certification as a Roving Umpire. See below for more information on the new National Certification Program.
Tennis Canada launched a National Officiating Program in 1999 to help standardize officiating across the country. The goal was to develop a National Officials Association and to provide qualified officials for tournaments at all levels. Individuals can acquire certification in six different categories. Each category has 2-4 levels of certification.
